Conjunctions in Thai Research Titles of Graduate Students at Kasem Bundit University

Abstract
This research article aims to analyze the use of conjunctions in Thai research titles by graduate students at Kasem Bundit University. 1,519 thesis titles of Thai graduate students from Kasem Bundit University, Bangkok, were collected from the Graduate School’s official website and statistical analysis was conducted by using percentages. The analysis revealed that the conjunctions could be divided into 10 categories which were ranked from high to low respectively: possession (33.09%), place (21.23%), clarification (15.86%), purpose (15.51%), addition (8.83%), coordination (2.11%), origin (1.45%), procedure (1.30%), instrument (0.50%), and time (0.12%). Analysis further showed that the graduate students tended to create research titles to answer “who” “where” and “how” questions by using the conjunctions of possession, place, and clarification respectively. Therefore, to create appropriate and concise titles, researchers should focus on conveying the meaning about possession, place, and clarification.
