Driving the Creative Economy Using Wisdom-Base of Tha Muang, Tha Muang Sub District, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province

Abstract

This research aimed to study a context and a potential of local wisdom as well as factors affecting creative economic development by using a wisdom-base of Tha Muang, Tha Muang Sub district, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province in order to propose a guideline for driving the creative economy using wisdom-base of Tha Muang, Tha Muang Sub district, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province. The researcher conducted a qualitative research by using the method of researching and collecting data from relevant documents from articles, journals, internet and related research. The data was also collected by using in-depth interviews, group conversation and participatory observation. After that, the data was analyzed for summarizing data and was discussed in narrative description. 

The findings of this study reveal that Tha Muang is an ancient community located near Chi River basin. This community was immigrated from Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR.  It still has richness in the legacy of wisdom in many branches, including Tai Noi alphabets, the way of life of riverside community, food preservation, weaving, folk medicine doctor, etc. The factors that affect the development of the creative economy using wisdom as the base include the attitude and credibility of economic development is still unclear. The development of marketing channels of community products, including the development of products or to meet the needs and satisfaction can reducing production and distribution problems. The production and distribution can lead to the abolition of business in the community, causing people in the community to lack income. In addition, there is no inheritance or transfer of wisdom from the community to future generations. Another thing that the community cannot live without is the development of knowledge and networks as a tool to support community economic driving by using the wisdom of the community as a base for further development.
