Sustainable Tourism Community Development Based on Value Chain under BCG Concept: A Case Study of Ban Nong Sat Community

Abstract

         Sustainable Tourism Community Development Based on Value Chain under BCG Concept: A Case Study of Ban Nong Sat Community. The objectives are: 1) to study products and wisdom and analyze the systemic potential of Nong Sat community; 2) to develop products of Nong Sat community to become a model of sustainable tourism community under the BCG concept; 3) to determine the of community development according to the value chain linkage to become a model of sustainable tourism community under the BCG concept. The research tools are interviews, questionnaires and lessons learned. The target group is the "Bor Wor" network of Nong Sat community, totaling 60 people and interviews of 10 people, by specific selection. The statistics used are mean, standard deviation and descriptive. The results of the study found that:

            1) Products and wisdom and analysis of the systemic potential of Nong Sat community found that the upstream stage (source of raw materials) can be divided into 2 types: normal harvest and seasonal harvest. Types that can be harvested normally, such as oyster mushrooms, catfish, lemons, roselle, etc. and types that can be harvested in season, such as termite mushrooms, puffball mushrooms, bitter bee mushrooms, bamboo shoots, red ant eggs, cicadas, beetles, and water bugs, etc. The middle stage (process or knowledge that can be processed) is the skill of cooking Isan food, the skill of making dumplings, the skill of making roselle and other fruit juices, the skill of making mushroom sausage, the skill of making sun-dried pork, the skill of making pounded pork, and the skill of making artificial waterfalls, etc. The downstream stage (when the product or service reaches the hands of consumers or marketing) is the Facebook page of Nong Sat Non Charoen School, shops in the community, and personnel with computer skills.

            2) The results of the study of Nong Sat Community towards becoming a model of a sustainable tourism community under the BCG concept are at a high level overall ( = 4.21, S.D =0.66)              

                     3)Developing a prototype community based on the value chain linkage towards becoming a model of a sustainable tourism community under the BCG concept consists of 5 main organizations: Nong Sat Non Charoen School, Nong Sat Community, and Nong Sat Temple. The group of schools, the Stable Creative Framework, and the University, the 5 main organizations, have a joint duty to drive the Nong Sat community network towards becoming a model for sustainable tourism communities under the BCG concept framework
