Abstract

The objecfives of this research were: 1) to study the current state of leadership development of educational administrators in Samrongthap District, Surin Province, 2) to study methods of leadership development for educational administrators based on the principles of Kalyanamitra Dhamma in Samrongthap District, Surin Province, and 3) to propose guidelines for the development of leadership for educational administrators based on the principles of Kalyanamitra Dhamma in Samrongthap District, Surin Province.

The research was a mixed-methods approach, collected quantitative data by using a questionnaire. The sample for the study consisted of 191 samples, including school directors, deputy school directors, and teachers in Samrongthap District, Surin Province. Qualitative data were gathered through structured interviews with 7 key informants. Data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, and standard deviation statistics. The research findings were as follows:

  1. The development of leadership among educational administrators in all four areas was found to be at a high level. When considering the order of importance, it was found that the participation aspect of leadership was the most important, followed by human relations, communication, and leadership competence, respectively.
  2. The methods for developing leadership of educational administrators based on Kalyanamitra Dhamma principles were included self-development training related to the use of innovation and technology, the creation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), providing encouragement and assessing progress, practicing speaking, writing, listening, and communication skills, developing human relations, creating warmth and happiness, ensuring equality, establishing committees for participation, and promoting clear, polite, and relevant verbal communication.
  3. The proposed guidelines for developing leadership of educational administrators based on Kalyanamitra Dhamma principles were included developing leaders' ability to select and use appropriate technology and innovations to keep pace with the changing world, motivating teachers to participate in work, developing the emotional intelligence of leaders, promoting good communication, fostering trust, making decisions and solving problems logically, creating collaborative activities, building human relations, boosting motivation, providing encouragement within the organization, fostering a joyful atmosphere, promoting activities that bring happiness, warmth, and a sense of camaraderie, greeting others with smiles, being attentive, and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect. Furthermore, establishing committees or teams with participation from all parties, communicating constructively and clearly, promoting positive speech, creating a friendly environment, and giving everyone a role in organizational development were also recommended. The research also emphasized the importance of having a well-organized network to support education, providing everyone with an opportunity to contribute to development, honing communication skills, dressing respectfully, and being able to clearly explain and justify ideas in a polite, pleasant, and concise manner, using various communication channels such as verbal messages and technology that are fast and up-to-date.
