THE ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL REFLECTION ON SCI-FI MOVIE FOR A SCREENPLAY

Abstract

        The main purpose of this research is to analyze the film as a reflection of society in order to create screenplay through textual and content analysis. Social reflection on film, the nostalgia and the adaptation by using defense mechanism theories are the study guidelines and tools for supporting analysis results along with storytelling and semiology theories.

        Results show that all types of film can be the reflection of society, these films’ role mainly inform the society about things that it needs to know. The film also emphasizes the problem of the character since the beginning of the film. The main character has changed from the old to the new and unfamiliar thing. The end of the story is vague and can’t tell whether it’s a happy ending, mostly it shows the part of letting go. The nature and artificial scenes harmonize with the country and the period of time that the film presents. Besides, the main character always think of the bygone, long for the past relationship and seems to adapt differently depend on the problem.
