Participational of Basic Education School Board Committee in Educational Management as Perceived by Chairmen Under Trang Primary Educational Service Area Office

Abstract
The purposes of this study were to investigate the participation of Basic Education Commission in educational management as perceived by school committee chairmen, comparisons of the participation as perceived by the chairmen based on their gender, age, level of education, years in the position, and original affiliation, and to examine problems along with suggestions related to the participation of Basic Education Commission. A simple of 159 chairmen’s was obtained by using Krejcie and Morgan’s table and stratified random sampling based. Simple random sampling was used by drawing lots. The data collection instrument was a five points by Likert scale questionnaire validated. The confidence value of the questionnaire was .92 by finding the alpha coefficient. The statistical data analysis consisted of percentage, mean, standard deviation, One-way Analysis of Variance, Fisher’s Least Significant Difference test (LSD), and content analysis.
The results showed that 1) the overall participation of Basic Education Commission as perceived by school committee chairpersons was at a high level. 2) The comparison results of the educational management participation classified by gender were found different with a statistical significance at the .05 level, were found different when classified by level of education with a statistical significance at the .01 level, and had no differences when classified by age, years in the position, and original affiliation. 3) According to the Basic Education Committees, it was found that they have lacked understanding of roles. Thus, school meetings are needed so as to share knowledge, and to build an understanding of their roles.
