Development of Information System for the Administration of Vocational Education Institutions in the Central Region 1 under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the need for information usage; and 2) to develop information systems and assess satisfaction with the use of administrative information systems for vocational education institutions, Central Region 1 under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission. The sample group used in the study was 291 administrators of vocational education institutions in the Central Region 1, under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission using a multi-stage random sampling. The experts in the assessment were 9 people by purposive sampling. The research tools were a questionnaire, a satisfaction assessment form, and a structured interview form. Statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results of the research revealed that 1) the demand for information data consisted of data import, work process, and the display of all 9 types of information, namely personnel, budget, establishments for professional practice of learners, materials, research and inventions, curriculum and teaching, students, buildings and economic and social aspects; 2) the result of the development of information system for the management of vocational education institutions under the office of Vocational Education Commission in the Central Region 1 had a website program for the administration of the Vocational Education Institutions in the Central Region 1 through a useful web browser program, easy to use, simple and efficient. The satisfaction assessment results on the use of information system for the management of the Vocational Education Institution in the Central Region 1 under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission found that the users were generally satisfied with this developed system at a high level ( = 4.13, S.D.= 0.66). The aspect that the service recipients were the most satisfied with was the display of data ( = 4.15, S.D.= 0.67), followed by the data import aspect ( = 4.13, S.D. = 0.68), while the aspect that the service recipients were the least satisfied with was the work process ( = 4.11, S.D.= 0.79).
