The challenges of using labor protection laws to promote equality

Abstract

This article aims to study and analyze the implementation of the Labor Protection Act B.E. 2541 (1998) and related laws in promoting workplace equality. The study focuses on the challenges and issues faced by vulnerable groups, including women workers, child laborers, elderly workers, and workers with disabilities. Through an analysis of legal principles, enforcement mechanisms, and policy support measures, this research contributes new knowledge by linking human rights principles to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The author proposes a LEEM model, consisting of Law, Enforcement, Education, and Evaluation, as a framework for improving the effectiveness of labor legislation. The model emphasizes the importance of legal reform, strict enforcement, worker education, and continuous evaluation to foster workplace equality and achieve sustainable development goals that respond to changing economic and social contexts.

The significance of this article lies in highlighting the need for developing labor protection laws to create sustainable workplace equality and reduce inequalities affecting vulnerable groups. The proposed framework underscores the importance of updating legislation alongside the implementation of supporting measures that align with the needs of today's workforce.
