THE NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS UNDER THE SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE BANGKOK 1

Abstract
The main purpose of this study were to 1) investigate administrative skills of school administrators and 2) identify needs to develop administrative skills of school administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Bangkok 1. The sample used in the research were school head teachers of 8 learning subject groups under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Bangkok 1, specifying the sample size by opening the tables of Krejcie and Morgan (Krejcie and Morgan). The sample size was 224 which response 205 which accounted for 91.52%. Instrument used was five-point Likert scale questionnaire of 14 skillsets. Statistics used for data analysis are frequency, percent (%), mean (), standard deviation (S.D.), and the modified priority need index (). The results of the research were as follows. While, the overall administrative skills of school administrators was at medium level (= 3.361, S.D. = 0.826) with the highest mean score in educational and teaching skills (= 3.430, S.D. = 0.816) followed by team building skills (= 3.423, S.D. = 0.785) , the overall expectation of administrative skills of school administrators was highest level (= 4.513, S.D. = 0.499) with the highest mean score in human skills (= 4.580, S.D. = 0.494) followed by educational and teaching skills (= 4.576, S.D. = 0.494). The overall the modified priority need index () was 0.344 with the highest modified priority need index () score was skill for creating an innovation (= 0.408) followed by Creative Skills ( = 0.391).
