DEVELOPMENT OF THE ELDERLY QUALITY OF LIFE IN CHEDIPLONG COMMUNITY, CHAND PHUEK SUB-DISTRICT, MUEANG DISTRICT, CHIANG MAI PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the quality of life of the elderly in Chediplong community, Chang Phueak Sub-district, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, and 2) to study the principles of Buddhism in the development of the quality of life for the elderly: a case study of Chediplong community Chang Phueak Sub-district, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province.

The research results revealed that 1. Quality of life for the elderly in Chediplong community, Chang Phueak Sub-district, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province found that 1) The physical health of the elderly is in accordance with the deterioration of their body. Some problems of their body are caused by heredity which is the main cause of illness. Therefore, the excessive physical and body used and have malnutrition food are other factors. Elderly Chediplong community should always careful to maintain their own health, have annual disease examination, listen to the advice of the doctor or the person who comes to educate the. 2) The emotional and mental aspects of the elderly, some people are afraid of being abandoned, afraid of being left alone. Some people are suffering from depression and cannot be satisfied with what has happened. Some people, when lonely, find a way out by listening to Dharma. mostly have cheerful mental health and 3) Social and family aspects, most of them participate in social activities, some of whom have family problems, represent children who go to work, then they need to take care of everything in their homes, instead of children. Some people are sick and cannot join social activities. The family communication had some conflict such as do not understand each other between grandchildren and the elderly, but it was only a small problem. Some seniors prefer to live alone and do not rely on their children and 4) Economic and income, most of the elderly have no problem because they have income from pensions, their occupation (dormitory-room for rent), and the government allowance of the elderly. Children also send money to be paid monthly as expenses and have savings stored for use for their everyday life and make merit etc.
