THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SONG AND GAME ACTIVITIES IN DEVELOPING LISTENING SKILLS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM FOR GRADE 2 STUDENTS AT SANPATONG YUWA-1 SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY SCHOOL

The objectives of this research were 1) to create and determine the effectiveness of the learning management plan on the development of English listening skills using songs and games according to the 80/80 standard 2) to study the effectiveness index of the development of listening skills using song and game and 3) to compare the achievement of listening skills in English subjects before and after studying by using the learning management plan by song and game. The population were all 15 pupils of second grade, second semester, academic year 2020, Sanpatong Yuwa 1 Subdistrict Municipality school. The research instruments consisted of 5 lesson plans and achievement test. The research instrument inspection method by determining for Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC), IOC of the lesson plans was 0.89 and IOC of the achievement test was 0.92 This research was proceeded by using one group comparison pretest-posttest design. The statistics for data analysis were percentage, Effectiveness Index (E.I), mean (X̄) and standard deviation (SD).
The results of this research found that:
- Their efficiency value was 92.13/92.00 and after using the lesson plans, it resulted in higher learning achievement.
- The effectiveness index (E.I) of the development of listening skills was 0.6471.
- The average achievement scores of post-tests and pre-test were 7.33 points and 9.2 points, respectively. The average achievement score of post-test was higher than the average achievement score of pre-test at 1.46 points.
