Effects of a Meditation Training Program for Educational Professional Practitioners on Well-Being, Subjective Happiness, and Educational Professional Ethics

Abstract

This research article aimed to: 1) Well-being, 2) Subjective happiness, and 3) Adherence to professional educational ethics. The population consisted of 1,608 trainees from Batch 2 in 2023. The quantitative sample comprised 517 participants obtained through simple random sampling, while the qualitative key informants included 15 individuals selected via purposive sampling. Research instruments consisted of questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data underwent content analysis, with data trustworthiness validated through triangulation.

          The research found that:

  1. After the meditation training, the participants developed better well-being across all four dimensions (physical, mental, cognitive, and social), with the overall score at the highest level, particularly in the mental dimension regarding loving-kindness.
  2. Regarding subjective happiness, the participants reported the highest level of life satisfaction with who they are.
  3. For adherence to professional educational ethics, ethics toward society received the highest score within the overall framework.
