Political Behavior of the Democratic Elderly in Wang Saphung District, Loei Province

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of the political behavior of the elderly under the democratic regime in Wang Saphung District, Loei Province; 2) to compare the level of the political behavior of the elderly under the democratic regime in Wang Saphung District and 3) to study the suggestion for promoting political behavior of the elderly under the democratic regime in Wang Saphung District. The sample group used in this research was 377 elderlies in Wang Saphung District. Data were analyzed using the following statistics: Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The data from the in-depth interview were analyzed by contextual content analysis.
The research results were as follows:
1. The overall level of the political behavior of the elderly under the democratic regime in Wang Saphung District was at a high level. The highest mean value was seen in the use of the right to vote, followed by political news tracking and political behavior according to the Four Saṅgahavatthu Dhamma and political participation. The aspect that had a lower mean value than other aspects was the support of political parties.
2. The comparison of the political behavior of the elderly found that the elderly with different gender, ages, occupations, and monthly incomes had different political behaviors with a statistical significance level of 0.05. The overall political behavior was no different.
3. The suggestion for promoting the political behavior of the elderly was that the activities that promote the exchange of political opinions should be organized more. The elderly should maintain their rights by going to the polls every time, and they should study the information of various political parties and candidates before voting by following the news in all channels and by adhering to the principle of peaceful coexistence in society.
