Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to develop and evaluate the appropriateness of cartoon-based lessons on dance terminology and gesture language, (2) to examine students’ abilities in applying dance terminology and gesture language before and after learning with the cartoon-based lessons, and (3) to study students’ satisfaction with the lessons. This quasi-experimental research was conducted with 35 Grade 4 students at Lakhphong Wittaya School, Chiang Mai Province, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included: (1) four cartoon-based lesson books, (2) a 20-item pre-test and post-test, and (3) a 13-item student satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The research results revealed that: 1. The cartoon-based lessons met the 80/80 efficiency criterion and were rated at a very good level of appropriateness with a mean score of 4.63 (92.60%). 2. The students’ post-test scores were significantly higher than their pre-test scores at the .05 level, indicating that the cartoon-based lessons effectively enhanced their ability in dance terminology and gesture language. 3. Student satisfaction was at a “very good” level with a mean score of 4.66, reflecting that the cartoon-based lessons increased interest and motivation in learning.
