Developing Thai tone writing skills using Tone writing practice With tone rules (Tone Rules) For International Primary School Grade 6 students Unity Concord International

Abstract

The purposes of this research aimed to create and evaluate the appropriateness of tone writing skills exercises for Grade 6 students on the topic of Thai tone making and to compare the learning achievement of Grade 6 international students before and after learning Thai tonal spelling through tone-based writing exercises using Tone Rules. The sample groups used in This research included 20 Grade 6 students at Unity Concord International School, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai Province, academic year 2024. The research instruments  were;  1) six lesson plan for 6th grade students, 2) tone writing skill exercises and 3) twenty-five items of tone writing skills test.  Statistics used in research include mean, standard deviation and percentage.
The results of the research showed that:
1. the appropriateness of tone writing skills exercises for students Grade 6 topic: Thai tone making was in very high level which the mean was 4.49 and the standard deviation was 0.27.
2. the students’ post-test learning achievement after used the writing skills exercise on Thai tone making was higher than pre-test score which the post-test mean was 22.70 and the standard deviation was = 3.29 and the pre-test mean was 13.80 and standard deviation was 4.60.
