The Competency Development of Teachers in Problem-Based Learning Management at Kongudomwittayakarn School Under

The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop teachers’ knowledge and understanding of problem-based learning management, 2) enhance teachers’ competency in problem-based learning management, 3) investigate teachers’ satisfaction toward the competency development in problem-based learning management, and 4) examine students’ satisfaction toward teachers’ problem-based learning activities at Kongudomwittayakarn School. This study employed an action research approach consisting of two cycles based on the concepts of Kemmis and McTaggart. The target group consisted of five volunteer teachers from Kongudomwittayakarn School. The research instruments included a knowledge and understanding test, an interview form, a lesson plan evaluation form, a learning management competency assessment form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. All instruments were validated for content validity with the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) ranging from 0.50 to 1.00. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and percentage.
The findings revealed that:
1) teachers’ knowledge and understanding of problem-based learning management increased after the development process, with post-development scores higher than pre-development scores by 20.00 percent;
2) teachers’ competency in designing lesson plans based on problem-based learning was at a high level (X̅ = 3.74, S.D. = 0.10), and their competency in organizing problem-based learning activities was also at a high level (X̅ = 3.79, S.D. = 0.47). After the second cycle, teachers were able to improve and implement learning activities more accurately and appropriately;
3) teachers’ satisfaction toward the competency development in problem-based learning management was at the highest level overall (X̅ = 4.53, S.D. = 0.21); and
4) students’ satisfaction toward teachers’ problem-based learning activities was also at the highest level overall (X̅ = 4.52, S.D. = 0.20).
