Research Work Development for Royal Thai Naval Academy According to National Education Standards and Quality Assessment Standards

Abstract

This is a qualitative study utilizing in-depth interviews of 3 experts; Director, Qualitative Assurance Division, Royal Thai Naval Academy (RTNA) , Director, Engineering Department, Education Division, Royal Thai Naval Academy and Deputy Director, Quality and Standard on Military Education and Training Division, National Defense Studies Institute. This study also utilizes the secondary data from previous academic researches, concepts and theories from related researches. These data are analyzed and used to determine the approaches for research work development for Royal Thai Naval Academy according to National Education Standards and Quality Assessment’s Standard. The study shows that there is a need for research work development for Royal Thai Naval Academy. These development should be, first, research policy’s improvement start off with commitment from high ranking officers that include plans and activities. Second, there should be a clear career path for researchers. Third, research funding should be set up to support every research’s aspects such as research equipment acquisition, journal publication and RTNA Conference. Fourth, Research Department should be established. Fifth, Information Department should be set up to takecare RTNA information backbone, and research database. Lastly, RTNA should develop research network with external institution and to facilitate researchers to find external funding agencies.
