บทคัดย่อ

พระพุทธบาทสัญลักษณ์มงคล 108 แบบวงกลมเกิดขึ้นในศิลปะสุโขทัยช่วงพุทธศตวรรษที่ 20 สันนิษฐานว่าเกิดจากความต้องการจัดวางสัญลักษณ์มงคลเป็นรูปจักรวาลทรงกลมตามคติเรื่องโลกศาสตร์ และการสร้างมงคลและความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ให้กับจักรบนฝ่าพระบาทจากคติเรื่องพระเจ้าจักรพรรดิของกษัตริย์สุโขทัย พระพุทธบาทสัญลักษณ์มงคล 108 แบบวงกลมที่เกิดขึ้นในศิลปะสุโขทัยมีรูปแบบเป็นเอกลักษณ์จากการให้ความสำคัญอย่างมากกับการจัดเรียงสัญลักษณ์มงคลภายในวงจักรที่ขยายใหญ่เต็มฝ่าพระบาทและแบ่งเป็นจำนวน 7 - 8 ชั้น ในช่วงพุทธศตวรรษที่ 21 ศิลปะอยุธยาได้สร้างพระพุทธบาทสัญลักษณ์มงคล 108 แบบวงกลมโดยรับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากศิลปะสุโขทัย แต่ได้พัฒนารูปแบบที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ด้วยการจัดเรียงสัญลักษณ์มงคลอยู่ในวงจักรจำนวน 3 ชั้น และหันกลับมาให้ความสำคัญกับรูปจักรหรือดอกบัวที่อยู่กลางฝ่าพระบาทด้วยการขยายขนาดให้ใหญ่ขึ้น
