Stuttgart is the capital of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg in southern Germany, well known to the world as a heavy industry city. In 2009, the new city library designed by Eun Young Yi, a Korean architect, was built near the train station which is convenient for transportation. The reputation of Stuttgart City Library is the “stunning” architectural design, equipped with fully automated systems, for example, a 24-hour circulation system with a conveyor belt running from a book drop box to each floor of the building. When a book is returned, a book sorter system will work automatically and bring the book back to its shelf for locating. A well-designed digital directory signage is used for providing direction and information of activities held in the library. The “Spektrum” built-in TV is installed on the wall as a photo frame to display pictures in the library. The self-service library automated systems are used for each section, for example, circulation, media, automated station for photocopying and book scanning. The service fees will be charged through a member card. One interesting service is an automated touch system for unlocking the door of a glass cabinet and burrowing library materials inside
