Local wisdom of Thai palm sugar: Synthesis of knowledge from research

Palm sugar is a local resource of Thailand. Palm sugar wisdom is used to solve the problem developed a career in making palm sugar until it becomes an economic crop that generates income for the local community. The palm local wisdom: is a valuable knowledge. that are different characteristics, ways, and practices according to the localities. Nowadays, the number of palm sugar-making occupations has decreased respectively, causing the wisdom of palm trees to fade away. Government agencies and community leaders are aware of problems and find solutions to solve and develop making palm sugar occupation in the community sustainably. There is a research study on palm sugar in a variety of fields. This article aims to synthesize knowledge and local wisdom of palm sugar in Thailand from 23 research papers published between 2007 – 2020 covers a thesis, research report, research article, and national conference papers. Knowledge synthesis uses content analysis techniques. and document synthesis processes The frameworks or principles adopted in the synthesis consist of concrete and abstract wisdom Concepts of geographic areas indicating the identity, wisdom of each local palm and principles of classification of local wisdom by branches The results of the research synthesis were obtained 6 knowledge of local wisdom. They are concrete wisdom 5 bodies of knowledge including knowledge (1) Bodies of Knowledge about the use of palm sugar (2) Bodies of Knowledge of agriculture (3) Bodies of Knowledge of food (4) Bodies of Knowledge of handicrafts and industrial production (5) Bodies of Knowledge of palm sugar in community business management and there is abstract wisdom 1 item ,Bodies of Knowledge of social system language and culture.
