Guidelines for information and digital literacy skills development of secondary education students

Abstract

The objective of the research is to study the guidelines for information and digital literacy skills development of secondary education students. The samples of this research were 400 secondary education students. The data were obtained from two questionnaires. In addition the research was conducted to analyze the in-depth interview of 24 key informants including 6 school administrators, 12 teachers and 6 librarian teachers. The research findings were summarize as follows: the secondary education students  have information and digital literacy skills overall  (mean=3.94) and each parts at high level including: the review of research and information-solving process (mean=4.05); evaluation of information (mean=3.93); use and present of information (mean=3.92) ; accessing and finding information (mean=3.89) ; and define the information problem and identify information needed (mean=3.89) respectively.  In comparing secondary education students’ skills of information and digital literacy, the result differ  significantly  at 0.05 level among students who belongs to school location in Bangkok and upcountry, higher secondary and lower secondary schools and have experience and no experience of  independent study courses.
