A Current Condition and Approaches of Public Libraries for Promoting Active Aging of Senior Population in Kamphaeng Phet Province

Abstract

The objective of this qualitative study was to investigate the current condition and approaches facing libraries in Kamphaeng Phet Province in relation to enhancing the self-efficacyactive aging of the senior population. The group of key informants included seventeen librarians and practitioners from the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Public Library. The research instrument was an in-depth interview, observation record, and content analysis forms.  The data was assessed using inductive summarization and descriptive approaches.

The following are the findings of the study:

(1) current situation: The current situation of the library in the province of Kamphaeng Phet, which is conducive to the self-efficacy of the old, reveals that the library has consistently conducted programs to stimulate learning among the elderly with diverse knowledge sets, such as health information. Compilation of Expertise in Information Technology Combining antique woven fabric knowledge sets, local food knowledge sets, Dharma practice knowledge sets, etc.

(2) Approaches: In the province of Kamphaeng Phet, libraries that promote the independence of the elderly face technological obstacles. Budgetary Concerns and Educational Support Problems with traditional and digital information resources for the elderly Personnel concerns that must be addressed to increase the library's knowledge base and so enable the elderly to live more independently. Social and cultural impediments to providing senior adults with information services

(3) Recommendations: All ages should be offered reading and learning-promoting activities, including children, adults, and senior persons. To promote reading and learning, it is necessary to create innovations that are compatible with the natural environment. digital independence for various senior citizens It is necessary to establish a network of librarians and library staff to increase knowledge about the elderly's ability to remain independent.
