Abstract

This research aims to examine the trends in international research publication patterns from the SciVal database, focusing on works affiliated with Thailand. The analysis was conducted using the "Overview" menu, specifically selecting "Countries, Regions and Groups" with Thailand as the designated region. The study spans a 5-year period from 2018 to 2022, with a limitation to document types such as Article, Review, and Letter. The analysis includes all subject areas to observe trends in the selection of publishing models for disseminating research findings by Thai researchers.

The research findings indicate that over the 5-year period (2018-2022), there were a total of 94,210 research publications. Researchers predominantly chose the subscription model for disseminating their research, constituting the highest percentage at 47.88%, with a total of 45,107 publications. Other publishing models and their respective percentages include Gold|Green at 21.82% (20,559 publications), Gold at 11.27% (10,618 publications), Bronze at 6.96% (6,561 publications), Green at 4.73% (4,455 publications), Bronze|Green at 2.99% (2,816 publications), Hybrid gold|Green at 2.58% (2,427 publications), and Hybrid gold at 1.77% (1,667 publications).

This sequence provides insights into the preferences of Thai researchers regarding publishing models, with a significant inclination towards the subscription model. Understanding these trends can assist researchers and academics in making informed decisions when planning and publishing their research work.
