International Publication Status of Mahidol University During Year 2018 – 2023 form SciVal Database

The purpose of this article is to analyze the status of international publications at Mahidol University from 2018 to 2023. The study involves examining all types of 23,360 international publications in the SciVal database. The analysis includes the number and types of publications, number of citations, number of publications in each field, quality of journals published, topics of prominence, research aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and international research collaboration units. The results found that from 2018 to 2023, Mahidol University had a total of 23,360 international publications, with research articles being the most common type (19,024 articles, 81.44%). The field of medicine had the highest number of publications, with 12,328 articles, and the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand had the highest number of publications, with 746 articles. Additionally, there were 21,311 publications (91.22%) in journals with a Journal Quartile, with the highest proportion (11,125 articles, 52.20%) being in the top 25%. Furthermore, there were 439 articles in the top 1% and 4,742 articles in the top 10%. The average citation rate per article was 10.1. Notably, research topics excelling in the fields of medicine and biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology were observed. Moreover, there were 13,179 publications (56.41%) aligning with the SDGs. Among these, the highest number of articles aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being is 8,437 (64.01%). The highest level of international collaboration, with 10,825 publications (46.30%). Based on the analysis results, these insights can serve as guidelines for formulating policies to drive the research direction of Mahidol University and elevate the competitive capabilities of the country. These crucial mechanisms contribute to achieving improved university rankings in the future.
