A Study of the Application of the Four Paths of Accomplishment in Administration of Local Leaders in NongLoeng Sub-district Municipality, Muang District, Buengkan Province

Abstract

This article entitled to study the principle of the Four Paths of Accomplishment in Theravada Buddhism and to study the application of the Four Paths of accomplishment for the leaders’ administration in Nong Leung sub-district municipality, Mueang district, Buengkan province. This is a qualitative research done by the documentary analysis, in-depth interview and focus group. It was found that the principles and concepts in working in order to achieve the success in accordance with the principle of the Four Paths of Accomplishment as appeared in the Buddhist texts of Theravada Buddhism. The principle of 4 means the principle of Dhamma leading to the achievement, that is, Chanda: satisfaction, appreciation in work, Viriya: energy, and exertion, Citta: dedication, and active thought and with attention to work with heart, Vīmaṁsā: to investigate what one does, examination, reasoning and testing and to improve and solve in order.
The mixed or applied methods between the management and the Buddhist teachings cause the changes in the organization clearly, that is, to change in good way for oneself. If the communal leaders practice the right way and practice the morality, the employees in the organization will take as the good sample; if the administrators and the personnel in the organization use the Dhamma as the guidance, their works will comply with each other; the occurred problems and obstacles will reduce because everybody learns and applies the Buddhist teaching in their lives.
