Administration to Increase Road Construction Capability of the Department of Highways according to the Sustainable Administration Concept

Abstract

This study aims to study problems, guidelines and strategies of management to enhance construction capacity of Department of Highways under sustainable management concept. This is a mixed methods research. Populations are 575 companies who are contractor for highways construction class 1-4 consisting of 1,150 people. However, completed questionnaires were returned from 946 people which is accounted for 82.26% of total population. Quantitative instrument used in data collection was questionnaires. Qualitative instrument used in data collection was structured in-depth interview created by 9 experts. The author collected the data and the statistics used in the analysis consists of percentage, mean and standard deviation. Research results show that problems of management to enhance construction capacity of Department of Highways under sustainable management concept is in moderate level ( = 2.16, S.D.= 0.61), guidelines of management to enhance construction capacity of Department of Highways under sustainable management concept is in moderate level ( = 2.10, S.D.= 0.64) and strategies of management to enhance construction capacity of Department of Highways under sustainable management concept is in high level ( = 2.10, S.D.= 0.64).
