Use of the Lexically-based Language Teaching with Smart Board to Enhance English Reading Ability and Vocabulary Knowledge Among Prathom Suksa 4 Students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to compare students’ English reading ability and to study students’ vocabulary knowledge after using the lexically-based language teaching with smart board. The sample was 30 Prathom Suksa 4 students, enrolled in Fundamental English (E14111) in the second semester of the academic year 2017 at Varee Chiangmai International School, Chiang Mai. The research instruments consisted of 7 lesson plans using the lexically-based language teaching with smart board, an English reading ability test and vocabulary knowledge tests.  The data collected were analyzed for mean, standard deviation and percentage.

          The findings were as follows: 1) the students’ English reading ability increased after they were taught through the lexically-based language teaching with smart board 2) students’ vocabulary knowledge passed the pre-set criteria after they were taught through the lexically-based language teaching with smart board.
