USING PHONICS METHOD TO REINFORCE ENGLISH VOCABULARY PRONUNCIATION OF MATHAYOMSUKSA 2 STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of this study were 1) to compare students’ English pronunciation and vocabulary knowledge before and after learning through the Phonics method, 2) to reinforce English vocabulary pronunciation of Mathayomsuksa 2 students and 3) to satisfaction study with learning through the Phonics method of Mathayomsuksa 2 students. The target group was the 20 Mathayomsuksa 2 students at Thatphanom School in the second semester of the academic year 2016. The experimental instrument was 6 lesson plans using the Phonics method, each plan per hour. The data collecting instruments were the English pronunciation and English vocabulary knowledge tests. The research conducting process comprised the assessment of the students’ English pronunciation and the students’ English vocabulary knowledge before and after learning through Phonics method. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation and percentage.

The finding of this research were revealed as follows: Average score of students to pronounce English through Phonics method was better by E1 test was 74.44. The result of vocabulary knowledge by Phonics method was better by E2 test was 80.40. Pre-test score was 8.25. Post-test score was 17.95, which are better. The satisfaction of students through teaching Phonics method to pronounce English of Mathayomsuksa 2 students was (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.77, S.D. = 0.41)
