Production of participatory public relations media using symbolic images on oral health for children

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) study the production process of participatory public relations media using symbolic images on oral health for children, 2) find out the perception ability of students toward the activity using the participatory public relations media in the form of symbolic images on oral health for children, and 3) compare their perception ability before and after using the produced media. The sample included 30 kindergarten students aged 5-6 years currently studying at Kindergarten 3, Kindergarten of Thammasart University and was chosen by simple random sampling. The research instruments consisted of an activity using symbolic image media and a perception test on oral health for children. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

            The results showed that: 1) for the production process, both students and experts chose the same media components, and agreed on the accuracy and appropriateness for media production; 2) the overall perception ability of the students after engaging in the activity was at a high level with an average score of 8.64 – 4.37 for interpretation aspect and 4.27 for reasoning aspect; 3) their perception ability after participating in the activity provided was higher than that of before engaging in the activity at a statistically significant difference level of .01 with the average scores of 6.13 and 8.46 for before and after participating in the activity.
