Abstract

Plastic is an essential material used by consumers because its cost is reasonable, lightweight, and durable. However, after using, plastics will turn to be plastic wastes which can generate huge negative impacts to environment. Australia has produced about 2.5 million tons of plastic waste annually, but only 13% are recycled. As a result of these problems, the Australian government has taken action to reduce plastic wastes, encourage industry to recycle and reuse the plastic waste and phase out single-use plastic by implement legal measures, planing plastic waste management and setting plastic packaging targets.
