ชูชก : จากชาดกสู่งานศิลปะ

บทคัดย่อ
บทความเรื่องนี้มุ่งศึกษาบุคลิกของชูชก (Jujaka) ซึ่งเป็นตัวละครในเวสสันดรชาดก (Vessantara Jataka) ผ่านการบรรยายในวรรณกรรมชาดก ซึ่งพบว่าชูชกมีบุคลิกดีเด่นชัดใน 2 ด้าน คือ ด้านรูปลักษณ์และด้านอุปนิสัยและบุคลิก ต่อมาเมื่อศิลปินถ่ายทอดบุคลิกของชูชกจากวรรณกรรมสู่งานศิลปะ เช่น จิตรกรรม ได้ใช้เนื้อหาจากชาดกเป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานและสร้างภาพชูชกให้มีลักษณะเด่น 2 ประการ คือ ก) ด้านรูปลักษณ์ แบ่งออกเป็น 1) ชูชกเป็นชายแก่หน้าตาหน้าเกลียด 2) ชูชกถือไม้เท้าและสะพายย่าม ข) ด้านอุปนิสัยและบุคลิก แบ่งออกเป็น 1) ชูชกเป็นคนที่สังคมรังเกียจ 2) ชูชกมักทุบตีสองกุมาร 3) ชูชกตลกขบขัน 4) ชูชกในฐานะนักขอ 5) ชูชกเป็นชายแก่ตัณหากลับ 6) ชูชกเป็นคนตะกละ
