An Investigation of the Effectiveness of Local Wisdom–Based Instruction to Enhance Thai Literature Teaching Competency among Pre-service Teachers at Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the efficiency of learning management using local wisdom to develop abilities in organizing the learning of Thai literature for teacher professional students of Rajabhat universities. This research is based on research and development (R&D) process of mixed method. Using qualitative research methods and quantitative research methods. The samples in this research consisted of third-year teaching students in the Bachelor of Education program. Department of Thai Language, Faculty of Education, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat university, 29 people, semester 1, academic year 2023. Research instruments and gather information consisted of 1. Lesson plans by using local wisdom 2. A competency measurement model In the Thai literature learning management ability. Statistics used are contents Analysis, percentage (%), mean and standard deviation.  The results were as follows: The research study results reveal that the effectiveness of utilizing indigenous knowledge in learning management to enhance proficiency in Thai literature education among professional education students at Rajabhat University is noteworthy. During the study period, the students' in-class scores, with a maximum score of 50, had an average of 40.59, equating to 81.17%. Moreover, the scores from the post-learning ability assessment in managing Thai literature education, with a maximum score of 15, averaged 12.38, equivalent to 82.53%. Therefore, the effectiveness of learning management employing indigenous knowledge is 81.17/82.53, surpassing the established standard of 80/80. This demonstrates that the utilization of indigenous knowledge in learning management is indeed highly effective.
