The Development of Grammar Skills about Past Simple Tense through Practice Package for Grade 8 Students at Tessaban 2 Nong Bua School

Abstract

The study aimed to address students' confusion about using tenses, specifically the Past Simple Tense, by improving the related exercise and comparing the students' development before and after using the exercises. The study involved 14 year-old students from Tessaban 2 Nong Bua School, and data was collected through three lesson plans and three exercises. Pre- and post-tests were also administered, and statistical analysis was conducted using tools such as percent, mean, standard deviation, and the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study indicated that the exercises were effective in improving students' achievement in using the Past Simple Tense. The study also suggests teaching another tense along with the Past Simple Tense to further enhance students' learning efficiency and adding more classes on the Past Simple Tense to improve students' understanding. Overall, this study highlights the importance of developing effective exercises and teaching methods to address students' confusion and enhance their understanding of grammar concepts such as tenses.
