DEVELOPMENT OF MODEL RESEARCH CONCEPTS AND METHODS: FROM PROBLEMS TO SOLUTIONS

Abstract
Model construction or model development is a type of researches that students choose to conduct as dissertations in educational administration field or administrators in all levels use as research work for promotion evaluation. Based on the author’s experiences as an advisor or a research evaluator, there are problems and misunderstanding related to the concept in many aspects, both research conducts and reports. So, it is high time to study and look for solutions on the matter to help model building researchers to understand the concept and apply the concept correctly to conduct the research in order to achieve better quality result. The author, as one of those people who are interested in the field for years, would like to take parts to solve the problem again by reviewing the concepts and theories related to models, model construction or model development, and how to use researches as bases to construct or develop models for students and those who are interested in this type of research. The article covers four sections, including introduction to model research, understanding on models, model research: concept to practice, and finally, summary and implication.
