Abstract

This research was qualitative. To study the political history of Christians in Lebanon under the confessional political system. through the theory of civilization collisions with a focus on modernization It assumes that the presence of Christians in Lebanon allows democracy to be maintained within the political system. Including the confession system, it still influences the preservation of democracy and the final part is the study of the modern and Muslim process in Lebanon that any sample group contributes to the democracy of Lebanon still. Stability in the Civil War between 1975 and 1990, which contains six modernization problems developed by Samuel Huntington for comparison variables, namely state government institution Politicians or political parties that played a role during that time, how did the process of issuing political policies support all 6 questions, then use the results obtained to calculate the scores for comparison and analysis for interpretation?

The results of the analysis revealed that the scores for both religions were the same. The score of internal factors, or internal comparisons, Christians scored against Muslims at 33 to 28, making Christians important to Lebanese politics both in terms of preserving democracy and preserving Lebanon's unique system of confession. prevent democracy from being challenged by other regimes of the great powers in the region trying to spread their influence In terms of external factors or allies of both sides in the civil war, Lebanon gained more votes on the Muslim side because the Muslim allies wanted Lebanon to be a barrier to the influence of hostile countries. Due to the geopolitical distance from Lebanon, coupled with the lack of resources to use war methods to suppress the other party, it eventually chose to use nonviolent methods to stop the civil war from occurring in Lebanon again. It was the most effective method, with Christians at the heart of ending wars, and democracy ultimately becoming central to resolving political and religious conflicts.

from this research, It has been suggested that the 1943 National Agreement's definition should be a symbol of cooperation and power sharing between the parties. And it should not only influence the unit of constituency divisions. This can then strengthen the central government. This will lead to solving the economic problems that Lebanon is currently facing.
