Observation Rhetorical Persuasion in Mahachat Kham Luang

Abstract

Rhetorical persuasion in Mahachat Kham Luang was the character’s communication strategy to use logic to persuade listeners.  The results of this study show that the persuasive rhetoric used by Phra Vessadon, Mussi, Chuchok and Amittada varies based on the contexts. Rhetorical strategies used by each character lead the listeners to respond and interact with the speaker. It can be assumed that the Mahachat Kham Luang shows the importance of rhetorical persuasion reflected from the dialogues of the characters, as well as poetic, witty, melodic and steady language together with impressive use of figurative language. In addition, the persuasive rhetoric reflects the flair and intelligence of the characters during a crisis.
