THE COMPETITIVE FACTORS IN LOGISTICS OF THE ROAD FREIGHT TRANSPORTATIONS ENTERPRENEURIAL SECTOR IN THE CENTRAL REGION OF THAILAND

Abstract

This research has objectives to 1) study the entrepreneurs’ surrounding, problems, and obstacles of the logistics competition in central Thailand; 2) study factors affecting entrepreneurs’ logistics competition in central Thailand; and 3) propose entrepreneurs a way to compete in logistics competition in central Thailand. The samples in this research were entrepreneurs operating businesses and having companies located in the central Thailand. Data were collected from 400 entrepreneurs by using purposive sampling method. The used research instrument was questionnaire with content validity value between 0.67-1.00 and reliability value between 0.82-0.90. Data analysis employed percentage, mean, standard deviation, One-way ANOVA, least–significant difference (LSD), and Multiple Linear regression analysis by enter method.

The research results can be indicated as follows: 1) In relation to the study of entrepreneurs’ surrounding, problems, and obstacles of the logistics competition in central Thailand, the research revealed that entrepreneurs encountered with pressures from both supply and customer side aiming to obtain the optimum cost-effectiveness context, best transportation costs, competition of logistics newcomer groups, intense rate of service price competition, delivery quality, inability to establish a product gathering center, damaged products during transportation, real-time transportation tracking, transportation speed, and traffic legislation in transportation through the community. 2) In relation to the study of factors affecting entrepreneurs’ logistics competition in central Thailand, the research revealed that the factors related to entrepreneurs’ logistics works and logistics vision were rated in high level with mean score as of 3.54 and 3.91, respectively. And, 3) in relation to the study of entrepreneurs’ direction to compete in logistics competition in central Thailand, the study revealed that logistics work competition was rated in high level with mean score as of 3.78, which transportation speed and time saving were rated in high level with mean score as of 3.91 and ability to estimate transportation cost was rated in high level with mean score as of 3.85, respectively.
