LEADERSHIP IN THE CRISIS MANAGEMENT TOWORDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The objectives of this analysis were to (1) analyze concepts, theories and research related to leadership in crisis management in sustainable development, (2) know the main characteristics, additional characteristics and ethics of leaders or executives in Thai society, and 3) know the direction to develop leadership in crisis management for sustainable development. This is a documentary analysis. The analysis found that the ways to develop leadership in the crisis management for sustainable development can include as follows. (1) Leaders should change their working in order to create inspiration, and self-determination. (2) Leaders should adjust their learning to nurture creativity and create innovations. And, (3) Leaders should change their learning to instill public consciousness, change from mutual benefit orientation to mutual value creation orientation. The characteristics of leaders include leadership, executive behavior, situation-based leader, good role-model, inspiration, intellectual simulation, and individualism. The additional characteristics of leaders include creativity, good communication, community focus, and cooperation, positive energy, confidence, determination, learning willingness, initiativeness, and good pattern. Finally, the ethics of leaders include the standards of action and behavior that is able to indicate the leader’s dignity, distinguishing what is right or wrong with moral discretion.
