THE IMPACT OF COMPETITIVENESS AND ITS ANTECEDENTS ON PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN THAILAND'S ELECTRIC VEHICLE PARTS INDUSTRY

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine 1) the influence of entrepreneurial orientation on effective team, innovation orientation, competitiveness, and perceived organizational performance; 2) the influence of effective team on innovation orientation and competitiveness; 3) the influence of innovation orientation on competitiveness and perceived organizational performance; and 4) the influence of competitiveness on perceived organizational performance in the Thai electric vehicle parts industry. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with nine executives, experts and supervisors in the Thai electric vehicle parts industry. Quantitative data were collected from 539 employees at the operational level in the Thai electric vehicle parts industry. The quantitative data was analyzed using a structural equation model. The study found that entrepreneurial orientation positively influenced effective team and innovation orientation at a statistically significant level, but not competitiveness or perceived organizational performance. The effective team had a positive impact on innovation orientation and competitiveness. Innovation orientation had a positive effect on competitiveness and perceived organizational performance. Competitiveness had a positive impact on perceived organizational performance. Executives in the automotive parts industry could apply the findings from this study according to their suitability to continuously improve performance quality.
