Phra Maha Devi Chao of the Thip City: A Study of Intertextuality Characteristics in Multi-Platform Context

Abstract

            Intertextuality being related to Phra Maha Devi Chao of the Thip City, was a narrative repeated in the multi-platform contexts in the early 2021 until it became a phenomenon which the society was talking about. That narrative consisted of certain characteristics, such as the narrator selecting appropriate channels and narrative styles to reach the audience with tricks and unique narrative styles. The narrator chose, cut, mixed and adapted the previous narrative in his own way with notable words being worthy to pass on. According to the aforementioned intertextuality, that made the story be supported well by the followers who tried to be a part of the world of that narrative, including the media who brought up the issue to create a ripple effect. Finally, that story brought benefits to the narrator. One of the key factors that made the storyteller and the story become a phenomenon was the transit of communication technology that helped turn the role of ordinary people into trend leaders. As a result, the media and other people would like to connect the story with the narrative of the one who was able to lead the trend further.
