Abstract

This research recommends the promotion of TV programs that include closed captioning and sign language interpreter services in order to defend the right of individuals with disabilities to access, recognize, and benefit from the television industry in Thailand. The study aims to compare the closed captioning, sign language interpreter, and both closed captioning and sign language interpreter synchronized on weather forecast program with senior high school students of Setsatian School for the Deaf under the Royal Patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. The results showed that samples were satisfied with the program that offered closed captioning and sign language interpreter, as well as the program that provided the closed captioning and a sign language interpreter at the same time. The group of students who viewed the program using closed captioning and sign language interpreter services together was more satisfied than the others. According to a comparison of the content perception from the weather forecasts program, students who viewed the program using both services had higher scores than students who viewed the program with closed captioning at a statistically significant level of 0.05 and higher score than students who viewed program with a sign language interpreter but not different statistically significant level of 0.05.
