The Script Development Process and Adjustment Process of Thai Scriptwriters Working for Global SVOD Platforms

Abstract

        This research aims to study the script development process of original Thai series on global SVOD platforms and the adjustment process of Thai scriptwriters who have worked for global SVOD platforms. Data was collected through qualitative research, consisting of document searches and in-depth interviews with Thai scriptwriters who have worked on original Thai series for global SVOD platforms. The key informants were selected by a purposive sampling method. 

        The findings show that the script development process for global SVOD platforms is similar to that for Thai platforms. The process begins with developing the story concept, synopsis, and outline and proceeds to writing the script. Throughout the process, the Thai scriptwriters have to work within the parameters of (1) international working standards, (2) multicultural teams, (3) intercultural communication, and (4) time.
