Content Creation: An Essential Course for Digital Age

Abstract

        The purposes of this research were to explore the needs of learning content creation course among students, employees, and entrepreneurs living in the provinces of Eastern Economic Corridor, and design content creation course to response the needs of those interested to study through the open learning system (MOOC) by themselves.

        The research method was qualitative research. The group discussion interview method included three groups of 18 cases of students, employees and entrepreneurs, together with in-depth interview with three experts in content creation, both professionals and academics. Consequently, the obtained data was analyzed in order to design content creation course that is appropriate for the online learning format.

        The findings proved that students, employees, and entrepreneurs considered that content creation skills are important for future career progress. Besides, it is a vital skill that everyone should learn because the ability to communicate through digital media has become an inevitable component of working environment in the 21st century. In summary, the content of the course should be divided into 3 important parts: principles of creativity, principles of media production, and principles of media management.
