Management of the Ping river riparian area by Faham community, Mueang district, Chiang Mai province

Abstract

The objectives of this research are as follows: 1) to study the development of the Ping river riparian area utilization 2) to manage the Ping river riparian area and 3) to search for the guidelines of management of the Ping river riparian area in the future by Faham community, Mueang district, Chiang Mai province. The main groups of people providing information were such as group of community leaders, group of government officers and group of people using the Ping river riparian area. The result of the study found that the development of the Ping river riparian area is changed by the nature and man. Management of the Ping river riparian area will be solved by using the roles of members of municipality, community leaders, district chief officer, legal battles principle, negotiation, planting the local trees, management of the prolonging the life of Ping river celebration, including integrated project planning activities working together with other sections. The guidelines of the management of the Ping river riparian area in the future by Faham community can be raised of awareness and care for the river by the members of the community must be continually  promoted  and  supported. The role  of  public participation in river conservation and development should always be opened for all sectors to join and share.
