The Development of Speaking Skills Using Collaborative Learning Management with G.I Technique Combined with Multimedia of the 1st Year Vocational Certificate Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop speaking skills using collaborative learning management with G.I technique combined with multimedia by passing the criteria of 70% of full score and the number of students passed the criteria were not less than 70%, 2) to study satisfaction of the 1st year vocational certificate students towards learning management using collaborative learning management with G.I technique combined with multimedia. The sample group used in this research included group 1 of the 1st year vocational certificate, Department of Mechanical Power Technology, 2nd semester of the academic year 2021, using Simple Radom Sampling table. This research was an experimental research using One Group Post-test Design. 1) 6 learning management plans using collaborative learning management with G.I technique combined with multimedia, 2) speaking skills assessment form in by speaking skills assessment in 3different occasions: content,
pronunciation, and personality, with the total number of 8 items, 3) satisfaction assessment form of the 1st year vocational certificate students towards learning management using collaborative learning management with G.I technique combined with multimedia, with the total number of 20 items, by assessment in 5 aspects as follows: subject matter on learning and teaching activities, usefulness of the subject, teaching media, teaching and learning measurement and evaluation teachers. The data were analyzed comprised basic statistics such as mean (), standard deviation (S.D.), and percentage.
The research results were as follows:
1. The results of the development of speaking skills using collaborative learning management with G.I technique combined with multimedia were found that an average grade point of students was 31.39, or 78.48%, and 16 students passed the criteria of 70%, 80%, which was higher than the specified criteria.
2. Assessment of students’ satisfaction towards collaborative learning management with G.I technique combined with multimedia was rated at the highest level ( = 4.66, S.D. = 0.26).
