Color words in Thai Society Context

Abstract

This academic article aims to present the concept of color words in context to Thai society. Studying data from papers and research on the Berlin and Kay conceptual framework for color synonyms, found that 1) color synonyms and individual perceptions are different, resulting in different languages. Called color as a mirror reflecting the color classification of that culture. in Berlin and Kay's research mentioned interest in Conklin's conclusion is that each language has different classifications. Each language has individuality Berlin and Kay did research on color terms. to prove this conclusion The results of the research found that The word color is universal in all languages. It is not a specific character. 2) The word for color in Thai society. Presently, it can reflect the way of life of people in society such as dressing, clothes, house arrangement and selection of materials and equipment in daily life. 3) Color perception influences feelings and emotions. The perception of color is also consistent with social culture. If the social culture is simple There is not much use of technology in everyday life, there will be few basic color words. on the contrary The more complex the culture The more and more technology is used, the higher the number of color words.
