Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the retrieval of knowledge of Japanese studies among undergraduate students in Japanese Language Program, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University. The descriptive survey method was chosen as an appropriate vehicle for conducting the study. The population in this study was 116 students in the Japanese Language Program. Questionnaires were used as research tools. The data were analyzed by calculating the frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results showed that most of the students retrieved knowledge for increasing their knowledge, for learning and searching for content in various subjects, and for entertainment and recreation. They retrieved knowledge by covering the content of arts, culture, language, literature and education. The highest number of students has a retrieval frequency of 2-3 days a week. Most of the students retrieved their knowledge of Japanese studies by using their names or jargon, issues or subjects, keywords or words related to the scrap and title. Students used search engines as knowledge sources, such as Yahoo! JAPAN, Google Search, and Google Scholar, as well as social media. Most of the students retrieved their knowledge of Japanese by themselves and assessed the sources of knowledge based on their accessibility, convenient and fast, desired content, and reliability. The study also found that students faced moderate problems in retrieving their knowledge of Japanese studies overall, especially the problem of keywords. The search term is too broad, resulting in a large number of search results.
