Creative Project of Learning Center: Experience the Way of Life of Lua-Prai Tribe, Nan Province

Abstract

This research article aims to 1) study about the identity, way of life, and arts and culture of the Lua-Prai Tribe. 2) study the physical environment of Ban Pa Kam Village, Bo Kluea District, Nan Province, which is the homeland of the Lua-Prai tribe. And to 3) design a prototype project of the Learning Center: Experience the Way of Life of Lua-Prai Tribe. This research is qualitative research by documentary studying, field studying, and field interviewing in order to obtain information and knowledges for using in the design process. The results of the study found that 1) the Lua-Prai tribe, Ban Pa Kam, Dong Phaya Subdistrict, has valuable knowledges of arts and culture and its own identity whether in terms of way of life, believe, architecture, or wisdom. 2) The physical environment of surrounding areas of Ban Pa Kam Village is suitable in various ways in order to project a learning center. Also, 3) the design of learning center will be a project proposal that can be further developed in the actual area, whether in the field of living space management and knowledge or activity sets. Beneficially leading to be a source of knowledges that accessed by a wide range of people. This is to bring benefits in creating awareness and understanding of the existence of ethnic groups and to preserve the identity and knowledges of the Lua-Prai tribe. Furthermore, it also promotes the value and meaning of living and creates ethnic pride for the Lua-Prai people in preserving the best of their arts, culture, and traditions.
