A Study of The Civic Engagement of Senior High School Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research article aims to: 1) Study the level of civic engagement among senior high school students. 2) Compare the civic engagement of senior high school students in schools of different sizes. The sample consisted of 464 senior high school students under the jurisdiction of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, Bangkok. The students were selected using simple random sampling with proportional allocation based on school size. The research instrument was a citizenship commitment scale, a situational test with 4-choice multiple choice questions, consisting of 28 items. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results revealed that: 1) The overall level of civic engagement among senior high school students in Bangkok was high (ðĨĖ =2.90, S.D.=0.27). 2) There was a statistically significant difference at the .05 level in civic engagement among senior high school students from schools of different sizes. Senior high school students in small-sized schools had significantly higher levels of civic engagement compared to those in other school sizes (ðĨĖ =3.08, S.D.=0.16).
