Abstract

This academic article aims to synthesize concepts and present guidelines for enhancing Executive Function (EF) competencies among early childhood children through learning in the digital era by employing document analysis and reviewing related research studies. The findings revealed that Executive Functions (EF), which comprise inhibitory control, working memory, and cognitive flexibility, are important for all aspects of children's development. However, the use of digital technology alone cannot develop EF without appropriate learning design. The development of EF requires activities that promote thinking, decision-making, and hands-on practice, together with connections to real-life situations. This article presents key approaches, including the use of technology as a supportive tool, the design of participatory learning activities, and the role of teachers and parents in providing guidance. In addition, a conceptual model for EF development in the digital era was synthesized. The findings indicate that digital technology and appropriate learning activities, through children's participation, guidance from teachers and parents, and the connection of learning to real-life experiences, contribute to the development of EF and lead to higher-order thinking skills, self-directed learning, and problem-solving abilities.
